When
2 November 2024
What
A public event open to everyone – families, students, and gamers – to experience the archaeology of Cyprus through a videogame thanks to the Minecraft world designed as part of the non-academic placement held at Silversky3D. During the 4 hours of the event, the participants had the opportunity to explore the Tower of Alaminos through our Minecraft world and the 3D models available on the Unsala website, listen to a short presentation about the LOGGIA project and watch a short film about the myths of Cyprus. The Director of the Research Unit, Prof Ourania Kouka, welcomed the participants who had come for the day.
Where
The event was held at the Archaeological Research Unit of the University of Cyprus. As a central hub for the study of the archaeology of Cyprus and a handy place to reach within the Cypriot capital Nicosia, the Unit has been the perfect place to host such an event.
Why
The event was a fantastic opportunity to reach out to around 25 participants, who enjoyed the experience and provided feedback. It was the first event of this kind held at the Archaeological Research Unit.
